Markdown table editor

Your input is processed only in this browser. See the privacy policy.

How to use it

  1. Paste a table into the input. Check the detected format and select a different one if needed.
  2. Edit cells directly. Click a cell or use the row and column selectors to choose what to move or delete.
  3. Choose whether the first row is a header, adjust column alignment, then pick an output format and copy it. Use Clear to start a new table.

Examples

Spreadsheet cells to Markdown

Paste two columns separated by a tab. The quantity column is aligned right automatically. Compact output produces the following table.

Input
Item	Quantity
Apple	3
Result
|Item|Quantity|
|:---|---:|
|Apple|3|

Details

Spreadsheet copies usually separate cells with tabs. CSV uses commas and wraps cells containing commas, quotes, or newlines in double quotes. A quote inside a quoted cell is written twice. Aligned-space input uses two or more consecutive spaces as a column boundary. If your values contain repeated spaces, choose CSV or TSV to avoid splitting the values themselves.

Markdown tables require a header row and a separator row. When the first row is not a header, the converter adds column labels and keeps every input row in the body. Empty headers receive numbered labels. Columns containing only numbers are initially aligned right. After editing values, use Auto-align numbers to apply the suggestions again. Moving a column also moves its alignment.

Padded Markdown counts Korean, Chinese, and full-width characters as two display cells. Exact appearance still depends on your editor and font; combined emoji can have different widths. Pipes inside cells are escaped with a backslash. Cell newlines become a break tag or a space. Literal HTML in a cell is preserved as text. The preview shows cell text and alignment without interpreting Markdown emphasis, links, or other inline syntax.

HTML import reads the first table from pasted HTML and expands merged cells into a rectangular grid. Only the first cell in a merged region keeps the text. Styling, images, links, and formulas are not imported. Markdown and HTML exports add any required header labels; CSV and TSV export the grid values without generated labels. Editing the source input replaces your current grid with a newly parsed table. Data stays in this tab and is not automatically saved.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paste the result back into a spreadsheet?

Choose TSV, copy it, and paste it into Excel or Google Sheets. Cells with tabs or newlines are quoted. Clipboard import behavior varies between spreadsheet applications, so check multiline cells after pasting.

Will the result look the same in Notion and GitHub?

Markdown table support and handling of line breaks vary by editor. Check the result in the destination editor. This preview displays cell text and alignment without rendering inline Markdown syntax.

Is my input stored?

No. Parsing and editing happen in the current browser tab. The tool does not send the table to a server or automatically store it in browser storage. Reloading the page clears your edits.

How large can a table be?

The limits are 200 rows, 30 columns, 3,000 total cells, and 200,000 characters. Oversized input produces an error instead of being silently truncated. Split larger tables into smaller sections.
